Saw logs Specifications
Our Laclede mill processes Doug Fir /Larch and White Fir logs, while the Chilco facility processes Doug Fir /Larch, White Fir and Spruce/Lodgepole Pine/Alpine Fir timber.
Top diameter - A minimum top diameter of 5.51".
Preferred Lengths - 41'0" and 20'6"
Secondary Lengths - 33'0" and 16'6"
Non-preferred Lengths - Standard two foot random lengths down to a minimum 12'6".
(8' and 10' logs accepted at a lesser price, but are not desired)
Oversize - The maximum we can accept is 27" inside bark large end.
We process Doug Fir/Larch, Hem Fir and Spruce/Lodgepole Pine/Alpine Fir.
Top diameter – We prefer a minimum top diameter of 5.51”. We will accept 5.0” on preferred lengths only.
Preferred Lengths – Stud (8’) multiples – 16’6”, 25’0”, 33’0”, 41’0”
Non-preferred Lengths – Logs other than those listed above, cut on standard two foot random lengths will be accepted at a lesser price (this includes 8’6” logs).
Oversize – The maximum for this mill is 16” inside bark large end. Larger logs are accepted at a lesser price.
Burned Logs - The entire log will be culled if the char extends into the cambium layer.
Metal/Foreign Objects -If the log contains metal or any other foreign objects the entire log will be culled.
Preferred Length Premium - Logs cut to 20' 6" or 41'0" containing a segment with defects which will render no 20' lumber in that segment, the entire log will be paid at the random length price.
Trim Allowance - 8' to 20' give 6" of trim, over 20' give 12" of trim. Trim tolerance +/- of 2". For instance, a 20' log is correct if cut between 20'4" and 20'8", a 32' log is correct if cut between 32'10 " and 33'2".
Merchantability - Any log segment that is less than 1/3 merchantable shall be culled.
